I love finding new great workouts to incorporate as a complement to my regular Tracy Anderson regimen. A close friend of mine, who has the best taste in just about everything, turned me onto a new private training studio on the Upper East Side called Boaz Studio. Boaz and his trainers customize the workout to suit your body’s needs, and really build strength and tone the body in a way that lasts long-term. I love the vibe when I walk into the studio, a beautiful townhouse just off of Madison Avenue, with the best old school rock and roll music. The sessions with Boaz go so fast, I hardly feel like I’m working out. He makes the strength training enjoyable, and has a great way about him, which is why his clients always return. I’m very excited to try out his new boxing studio which will open soon on the first floor, bringing a new element to the workout.
How many years have you been in business In NYC?
I have been in business for 17 years.
How did you get your start, and what was your initial Inspiration?
I started by working at an excellent, but large commercial gym. I was then inspired to offer a slightly more private experience, in an environment a bit more welcoming.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
I keep myself informed, and am always open to rethink what I know about coaching. As a result, I find myself continuously looking for innovative ways to keep sessions beneficial, as well as mentally engaging. My clients appreciate that added value.
What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options?
Whichever activity that allows you to reduce stress levels. Physical practice is the most rewarding, safe, and beneficial form of stress control. With so much to choose from, make sure you have fun practicing, and do so safely, or else, you won't come back.
How do you positively Impact your clientele?
By instilling healthy habits that impact quality of life. We turn the spotlight on posture, stretching, balance, and diet. We make those topic count as much as the "workout" part. Over time, they report improvement in strength, energy level, balance, posture and body composition.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I get to work in a place that feels like home, developing my craft, hosting and working with like-minded individuals.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
Jules Bistro.
How do you benefit mamas?
Not all mommies have the time or passion for super long classes of shallow exercise, in close proximity to crowds of sweaty people. We guarantee an hour of perfectly well-rounded training, without a boring second, in the studio that sets the standard in cleanliness and service.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
The one I hear most often is, "I'm in the best shape of my adult life."
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field.
I take my hat down to all the career trainers who survived the city. I'll mention Mark Heller as the standard. If you have a pulse , he'll get you strong.
What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" I words to live by?
“It is what it is.”
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
Every time you check your social media, do 30 seconds of plank. Carry hand sanitizer...
