I was thrilled when I heard that my friend Quincy Davis, ultimate beach babe and pro surfer, opened up her own shop in Montauk. If you follow her, you know she’s always in the cutest gear and has the best selection of swimsuits and coverups in town. Her store, conveniently located next to her brother’s place, Happy Bowls, is beautifully curated with rare finds that you don’t typically see in stores on the east end. It’s the perfect little beach hut, filled with swimsuits, rash guards, sweatsuits, and beach coverups, so basically everything you need out here in the sunshine! Quincy is a true inspiration, dedicated to health, wellness, athleticism, fitness and adventure at such a young age, and now the owner of her own store. I’m excited to see what’s next for this beauty!
How many years have you been in business in Montauk?
We have been in business for 2 seasons.
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by strong women growing up, my mom is a bad ass business owner and good style comes natural to her. That influenced, plus my experience traveling the world opened my eyes to all the ways I could create a brand that reflects where I have come from, where I have been, and where I am going. When this sweet Hamptons cottage space became available I knew it was time to start.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
A big part of my philosophy is to not focus on what other people are doing but triple my efforts every day to create the best brand that fully represents who I am and share it.
What do you feel gives your business longevity?
Grown here not flown here ;)
How do you positively impact your clientele?
I just hope anyone who comes to visit the shop has an awesome experience, even if they don’t leave with anything but to feel happy and inspired!
What is your favorite part of your job?
Curating the shop! Finding small unique brands to bring to Montauk is always fun!
How do you benefit mamas?
It's a small space so we make sure every item is of value and unique! Moms know they can come in, grab and go, and leave with an amazing bag of goodies. We like to provide that trust and ease. They can also shop via instagram or the website to save time!
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
I have been getting a lot of feedback how this year is even better than last, it gives me motivation to keep making it better.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field.
Winnie Beattie from Warm, Petra Donovan from The Barn 808, and Suzie Kondi. All of of these women are major inspiration for me and do what they do SO well!
What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
I am confident in my decisions. I am the creator of my own destiny. I stand behind the things I do and say.
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
Shop the instagram, know what you want before hand its a tiny space we can get you in out while your children eat happy bowls right outside!
