As I lean into my arm closing my eyes and taking in air through my nose, I cannot get enough of the heavenly smell as it fills my heart. Hovering quiet and still, grasping my own wrist not wanting the moment to pass where I need to release what remains floating around my head as the scent has left me but my brain is still processing it and my emotions are still alert. I crave more. Another deep breath in.
Anyone who has been to my home cannot avoid my passion and love for perfume. The glass bottles preciously rest on silver trays throughout the living room bookshelves. For me owning just one perfume would be like owning one pair of shoes. The thought of hitting up the gym in my over the knee five inch heel boots is less crazy sounding than wearing the same perfume to a beach in July and a dinner date in December.
My LBD of perfume is Byredo’s Baudelaire. It is the closest thing I’ve ever had to love potion number nine, with men and women alike stopping me in the streets to comment on my scent. Notes of juniper berry, black pepper, caraway, incense, hyacinth, leather, papyrus, patchouly and black amber. It is sophisticated and sexy, yet comforting and warm. It’s masculine and strong, yet curious and flirty. If there was one perfume that could nail me down to exclusive use, this would be it. Baudelaire is enjoyable morning to night in any season unlike some of my other scents, forcing me to buy two at a time so that no cosmetic bag is ever without my main squeeze.
For getting the most out of your perfume make sure your skin is moisturized. This will keep the smell attached to your skin allowing it to linger all day. Spray onto your pulse points. Think romance, the neck the wrist the back of your knees. The warmth of your blood will activate the perfume. Don’t rub your perfume in. This breaks up the oils causing the smell to dissipate. Wasteful! And don’t forget to store properly. Follow these steps and your perfume should make it to the end of the day, tucking you into bed making your memories last as you drift into your dreams.
