How many years have you been in business in NYC?
5 years.
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
I got my start by making my own personal transformation: I began my fitness career when I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at age 21, carrying more than 300lbs, I was faced with the option to either lose weight and completely change my lifestyle or not survive to see 25. It was a huge wakeup call and was enough for me to turn my life around and shed the weight, improve my lifestyle, and live a more positive life, and spread this positivity and knowledge to help others.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
I think my background, my personal story of overcoming adversity sets me apart. I’m also not the typical personal trainer - I think most personal trainers are more focused on themselves. If you go to other gyms, trainers are often out for themselves and very protective of their personal clients and training technique.. I have broken that mold, by creating a team of trainers, who work together, share clients and promote each other, spread positivity to inspire and help clients reach their fitness goals - whatever they may be.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Authentically helping people, getting results, and positively impacting someone’s life. At this point, it’s not only with clients, but with my entire team.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
Aire Ancient Baths
How do you benefit mamas?
I think we have a positive environment that can help others... encourage people, brighten their day and help them feel better about themselves - physically and mentally.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
Having clients say that I’ve truly helped to change their life.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field:
John Sitaras - Owner of Sitaras Fitness
Amanbir - Golden Bridge Yoga
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
‘As you think, so you shall become.’
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
As far as fitness, to save time and get quick results, try to maximize your hour during the gym. The little things make the big difference.
