How many years have you been in business in NYC?
13 years.
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
I started personal training in 2004 for New York Sports Club and I've been providing custom fitness training ever since. I was inspired early, beginning Judo 28 years ago at the age of 7. From then on, I was hooked training in boxing, Muay Thai as well as many forms of martial disciplines and achieving a 3-0 record in fight competitions.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
Luchador Fitness adapts Boxing and Martial Arts to any fitness level and offers a fun, individualized, intense fitness experience that incorporates: strength, endurance, flexibility and cardiovascular health.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I view my job as a puzzle. Everyone has different personalities, physical challenges and goals. Getting to know each individual and their body allows me to help them reach those goals and achieve breakthroughs in their health, fitness, weight loss and physique.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
Ethos Gallery on 51st and 1st Ave. If you like Greek this is a great spot to go out and have the option of a healthy delicious meal. A nice place for a night out with friends or your significant other. Especially fun on birthday's. Also a great place for healthy delicious options and a nice ambiance is Casimir & Co on 73rd and Lex.
How do you benefit mamas?
Luchador Fitness brings mamas back to a place where their personal physical objectives are the main priority for an hour at a time.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
Though I've gotten very positive feedback from several clients over the years one conversation certainly stands out. "I'm doing things I never dreamed I could do, I feel great."
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field:
Coach Jose Nuñez is an Olympic level boxing trainer who has cornered me and is directly responsible for some of my victories both in and out of the ring. Sonia Chhabra is a terrific Physical therapist who has helped me with fight related injuries. Her work in Sonia Chhabra Physical Therapy has kept me strong and injury-free. Moe Kojok is a Muay Thai kickboxer and trainer who has helped make me a better fighter and trainer over the years.
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
"Dont wait!"
Great advice from a great person who lives by the same mantra herself and has achieved many goals. If you want something start working towards it now. It requires steps to chip away at a goal so "don't wait" .
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
Being a delivery service Luchador Fitness has me on the move all day long. I find that planning my day in advance has helped me immensely. From customizing routines for my clients to travel time, planning ahead has been key.
