How many years have you been in business in NYC?
I started Twobirds Bridesmaid in 2007 and HATCH in 2011
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
Both of my brands were born out of frustration as a woman looking for solutions at moments in life. When I was pregnant with my first daughter Charlie, I wanted to invest in pieces that made me feel chic and beautiful and weren’t disposable. There was nothing! So I started HATCH to give women options to invest in things to celebrate this moment and wear again forever.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
HATCH pieces are designed with ease and comfort in mind. I take great pride in the fabrics we pick, the silhouettes that are timeless, and the styling that enables all women to come to us for something they need.
What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options?
Inspiration. Born and raised in NYC, I feed off the vibrance of the city and the diversity on the streets. You can be anyone here, and soak up anything you wish to learn.
How do you positively impact your clientele?
I listen to my customers. As women our bodies change and I want to be the brand that is here to embrace that change and provide a smile on your face.
What is your favorite part of your job?
All I ask is that when I wake up in the morning I’m excited to go to work. I need to be inspired and my team, my customers, and the brand excited me tremendously. I am opening my first store this week and I am overwhelmed with passion and energy.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret ;)
How do you benefit mamas?
HATCH is building a community of women to learn from each other, ask each other questions, and get what they are searching for. Where ever we can support women and these amazing causes we champion, HATCH is there. Every Mother Counts has been a partner since we started, and what they do for maternal health is just incredible. Spreading awareness and garnering support is the first step to everything.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
Thank you for making me feel beautiful.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field:
The female entrepreneurial community in NYC is just amazing. Some of my best friends are fellow business owners as we fight the same fight, and face similar emotions leaving our kids to do what we love. It’s so amazing to grow in a community of like-minded bad-ass women.
What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
Stay high. Always.
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
CitiBike, Dry Bar, Martini.
