I’m always searching for new, innovative, non-invasive beauty secrets, and in my search I stumbled upon this cute twin dermatology duo! Laura Palmisano and Diana Palmisano, referred to as the Derm Duo, are practicing new procedures and techniques to keep our skin looking youthful and glowy, in their Midtown East practice at Schweiger Dermatology Group. Whether you are looking for the best cool sculpting machines, newest lasers or simply good Botox and fillers, this adorable sister act gets it done well! I’ve honestly always been interested in cool sculpting after seeing the results on friends, but have been scared to try something completely new. If/when that day comes, I will be heading over to the Palmisano twins.
How many years have you been in business in NYC?
We have been in business for 12 years.
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
When we decided to practice medicine and become Physician Assistants, we always knew we would specialize in dermatology. When we were in second grade, about 7 years old, our mother was in an unfortunate car accident during a rough winter. Our mother, one of the most gorgeous women we know, was not only emotionally traumatized but physically. Her face suffered many injuries leaving her asymmetric and scarred. Growing up, we not only witnessed our mother have numerous visits with various plastic surgeons to correct these unfortunate defects, but we truly felt our mother’s insecurity and pain with her appearance. We remember telling ourselves that we would fix her one day. After many years, finally fillers came to the market. Our mother started seeing improvement from basic collagen filler, then known as cosmoderm or cosmoplast. Our mother was able to regain her confidence and feel even more beautiful. Here we are now, with generations of esthetic medicine behind us and we are the forefront, helping our mother and others feel beautiful every day inside and out.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
We would say our true passion, innate aesthetic eye and mastery has placed us above the standard in our field, ultimately delivering outstanding results. However, it is our ability to positively influence our patients that drives our success. Our goal is to always work as a team with our patients and lead gracefully through understanding, respect and positivity.
What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options?
Our patients, colleagues, coworkers etc, all trust us! We practice with grace. Our longevity is truly secondary to our honest nature. With a full heart, we build sincere relationships and always guide each individual appropriately.
How do you positively impact your clientele?
We would like to think our constant halo of positivity and beauty in life surrounds us and is absorbed the second they sit in our chair. Our patients learn very quickly that we not only love life, but CONQUER all aspects of it, whether it’s our career, motherhood, fitness, family or fun! With that said, we always emulate and encourage confidence, empowerment, strength, kindness, respect, and gratitude.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The patient-provider relationship and all the personal and professional connections. We have built solid, trusting, relationships over the years, and have learned so much AND gained so much love and gratitude in return.
What is your favorite secret NYC spot?
No secret - Central Park! There’s nothing more magical than seeing fresh snowfall glistening off the trees and off Laskar Rink during a run.
How do you benefit mamas?
We benefit mommies by making them feel beautiful and confident at all times. The craziness of the day-to-day motherhood minutia can compromise how you look and feel. We help moms To wear the same “inner” beauty, strength and confidence they feel, on the outside.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
Here is a part of a "thank you" letter sent to me, Laura, that I would like to share:
"Laura... I think you are such an amazing woman, and you help so many of women look and feel better about ourselves. I’m so very lucky that “xxxxx” connected us, and I am so grateful for all of your expertise...and life coaching. Looking forward to seeing you next week."
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field.

What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
Live with Passion - TR
With passion, you can have, do and be whatever you put your heart to!
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
Plan in advance!! Schedule your musts and never change it!
Laura- I have a sizable 4x4 ft chalkboard in my kitchen and I always create a monthly “family” calendar that has my agenda, my husband’s, and my kids' agenda. To be more effective, I always schedule my musts (fitness, soul cycle running ) AND NEVER move it. But everything goes on the board.
Laura - with three kids, I even have a “set” chalkboard menu for my two oldest school age kids of their breakfast and lunch! It changes biweekly. I make it with my kids so it’s interactive! I even take the kids with me when I go shopping so it’s a fun activity we look forward to.
