How do you carve out time for yourself, between juggling your fashion career and motherhood? How do you prefer to spend this "me time?"
I exercise every day early in the morning. That’s my “me” time. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would spend hours playing and running outside. It helps me stay balanced in a very full life so I wake up every day at 5:30am to make sure I have that time for myself.
Since you have both a boy and a girl, what are your favorite classes for girls and boys in NYC?
Gloria loves art and cooking. The Guggenheim Museum has an amazing camp program for art classes. Kids get to tour the museum and then work on their art throughout the day. Gloria is so excited participate this summer. She also loves cooking and Taste Buds has the best cooking classes in the city. My son is only 3 and a half years old. He loves music, so he goes to Kidville for some Hip Hop classes... he enjoys every minute of it!
What values do you hope to instill in your children?
Kindness, honesty, integrity, happiness, commitment and courage.
What has been the most pivotal moment in your career thus far?
When I switched from Editorial to Retail this past year it was a big moment for me.
What inspires you most about UNICEF's work?
The care and attention that UNICEF provides to children and mothers around the globe is unique and impressive. I remember so vividly in my own childhood, UNICEF being so active in my country of Brazil and really helping children and families in need. It was the first organization that I was truly inspired by. Their unparalleled humanitarian work amazes me to this day.
Barneys has been a generous, long-time supporter of UNICEF. Why is that philanthropy important to you as a woman and mother?
I’m a mother of two beautiful kids, and I am lucky I’m able to provide the best for them. The thought of a child in hunger makes me so mad and beyond sad. It gives me some comfort to know that UNICEF is doing everything they can to alleviate hunger and sickness around the globe. I’m happy to be working at Barneys, an organization that prioritizes partnering with UNICEF on making a better day for these families in need.
