I’m very particular about my manicures and pedicures. I love the look of a clean polish, and always have a difficult time finding places as good as my favorite NYC salon, when traveling. Well, luckily, in LA, Sarah Gibson Tuttle has opened they most zen, beautiful nail spa, called Olive & June. Sarah created the perfect environment for clients to go and feel at peace, rested and relaxed while getting their nails done. From the chic florals that hang off the walls, to the beautiful chairs and stools, every inch of this space was carved out with serenity in mind. They offer an all natural experience, and have the cutest nail stickers, as an added service, that are very cool for both adults and kids. My manicures and pedicures at Olive & June are always long-lasting, and never chip, so they get 5 stars in my book.
How many years have you been in business in LA?
We have been in business for 5 years.
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
Originally I was an Equity Sales Trader in New York for JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. I wanted to move to LA (the beach! the sun! everything!) and when I decided the world needed Olive & June, that's when I knew it was the right time to make the move to the west coast.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
We strive to be different in every way, from the moment you walk in to Olive & June to the way we support our clients outside of the salon too. So many polish options, sanitation to the next level (sterilization!), the friendliest environment, a gorgeous set up, a whole universe of nail art, and so much more.
What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options?
We care so much about every experience. Our love for what we do drives us every day.
How do you positively impact your clientele?
We deliver happiness in every appointment. Nails are fun! We really embrace self expression.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Watching our team grow. The best feeling is watching a manicurist come to Olive & June and within months to see how much they have blossomed professionally and artistically.
What is your favorite secret LA spot?
Made with Wellness in Venice: the best almond milk I have ever had.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
It might surprise you, but I love every bit of feedback we have ever gotten. Even the harsh comments! What makes our business better is our team, our clients, our fans telling us what they wish they were seeing and experiencing.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field.
Eva Chen, Alli Webb, Unistella, Jen Atkin, Kristin Ess to name just a few. I'm so grateful to know and love these women.
What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by? Work hard.
Then work harder. And never, ever give up.
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
A blowout (at Drybar, if you have one nearby!) where I can work and get beautiful.
