How many years have you been in business in LA?
How did you get your start and what was your initial inspiration?
Michelle: We saw a void in the market for low key, clean, and sophisticated leisurewear.
Megan: Michelle and I met at art school. When we graduated we felt there was a void in the basics market. We wanted to create a brand that was low key yet sophisticated. We wanted to introduce a leisure driven clothing line that made you feel put together and fashionable without all the noise of logos. Our inspiration was to combine the comfort of vintage basics with modern essentials.
What do you feel differentiates you from others in your field?
Michelle: Design, quality, and fit.
Megan: Fit and quality. Our clothes are made in Los Angeles. Our sample room and pattern makers are right down the hall from our office. This gives us complete creative and quality control.
What do you feel gives you longevity in this big city with so many options?
Michelle: We have the best options of all the options. Timeless design, quality, and fit.
Megan: Our clothes last. They are good today and they are even better 5 years from now. Just ask anyone who owns a pair of our sweats.
How do you positively impact your clientele?
Michelle: We make them feel like they look put together and comfortable when they don’t necessarily have that much time to put into what they are wearing.
Megan: We aim to give them something they will cherish. We aim to provide timeless pieces that become your go to wardrobe staples.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Michelle: Being able to create something that people cherish and enjoy.
What is your favorite secret LA spot?
Michelle: North end of Broad Beach Road.
How do you benefit mamas?
Michelle: Helping mamas feel and look their best when they have very minimal time to focus on themselves.
Megan: We offer them low maintenance clothing that is comfortable, stylish and long lasting.
What is the most memorable feedback a client has given you?
Michelle: I still have the first pieces of Monrow I ever purchased 10 years ago and still wear and love them.
Megan: We are often told by our clients that Monrow is the first thing they put on when they get home from work. This makes me feel really good.
Pay it forward and name your top colleagues in the same field or related field:
Michelle: A.L.C. Mother Denim, and The Great, and James Perse.
What is the best advice anyone's ever given you? Or what is your "mantra" / words to live by?
Michelle: With the mass amounts of advice and opinions out there, listen to your instinct. Learn how to listen and trust yourself. Really try to retrain your mind to focus on one thing at a time and take one hour at a time in this busy world we live in.
Megan: Plan your work. Work your plan - Dan Wenke (Michelle’s father).
As moms, the day can escape us, what is your best time-saving trick?
Michelle: Keep it simple, don’t over schedule and Amazon Prime.
